Max is a passionate writer who enjoys writing stories across a range of genres that explore the nuances of love, loss and what it means to be human.

Science Fiction

Max's genre of choice when reading and the bulk of the many books that weigh his bedside table each week, it was inevitable that he gravitated towards science fiction when first exploring long-form genre fiction. Many hours - and pages - of experimentation and practice filled his studies in the art of language and literature, none more influential or enjoyed than science fiction. For Max, sci-fi was the pathway that he walked to help cultivate his writing from an obsessive hobby into a budding career.

Crime

A long-time reader but never a writer of crime, Max recently began working on his first full-length novel in early 2025 and found himself gravitating towards the genre. Originally aiming to emulate the works of Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle, of which he is a huge fan, Max is currently writing crime noir, combined with elements of climate fiction and gangster crime, in his novel 'Rainworld'. 

Short Story

Max loves the unique challenges presented by the short story as a genre compared to long-form writing, and finds the unique format and his resulting approach towards writing creatively liberating. Short stories and comic books were Max's introduction to creative writing as a primary school student and short-form and condensed storytelling has stuck with him as he, his skills, and his interests have developed and matured, and continue to do so today and tomorrow. By employing conventions and styles from a careful range of genres within his works, Max's personal experiences bleed through the words of each piece he writes.
